Katarzyna Kraszewska

Katarzyna Kraszewska was born in Warsaw. Graduated from Musical Academy in Łodź from professor Tadeusz Chmielewski grand piano class. There also she completed PhD study. Katarzyna improved her skills with outstanding Chopin pianists and teachers such as Halina Czerny-Stefańska, Andrzej Jasiński, Janusz Olejniczak, Eugen Indijc, Dina Joffe i Dominique Merlet. She completed also Académie Pianistique International in Aix en Provence in prof. Dang Thai Son class. Worked under the supervision of prof. Adam Wibrowski in Conservatoire de Paris.

The winner of many national and international competitions, and also of many special awards such as the award of Frederic Chopin Society for the best performance of a mazurka or Award of the Netherlands Musical Society that brought a number of concerts in Holland. In 2005 recorded the monographic disk of the Chopin works in Białostocka Philharmonic hall. In the same year she participated in the International Competition of Chopin in Warsaw. Next year at the International Competition in Brest (France) in Chopin category she received “1-ere médaille”.

Performed at many prestigious festivals in the country and abroad, including at the International Liszt Festival in Sopron in Hungary, at a festival “International Piano Sommer” in Austria, an international Pianists Festival “Musical Flora – Music in Flowers” or at the Festival of Classical Music in Solec nad Wisłą. The pianist regularly performs in many Poland cities connected with Frederic Chopin – in Żelazowa Wola, Szafarnia, Sanniki i Brochów. Also regularly performs in the Museum of Independence in Warsaw. Every year plays a solo concert near Chopin’s Monument in Royal Łazienki. She appeared on many stages abroad – in France, in Holland, in Austria, in Germany, in Hungary and in Greece.

Katarzyna Kraszewska participated in many projects of Chopin Society, for example, of 200 concerts on the 200 anniversary of the Chopin birth, “Chopin-Muzyka-Listy”, “Chopin does not bite”, also in the project of National Institute of Frederic Chopin of “Presentation” to which the most talented young pianists were selected.

During the official celebrations of Chopin’s Year, she was invited to Greece where a reviewer wrote after her concert “…the soloist impressed public with the artistic skill and personal charm”. She cooperated also with the quintet of National Philharmonic hall, performing a concert E minor of Chopin. On the occasion of Chopin’s Year made a recording disk for an album “Chopin – moods of the composer in photos of Tomek Sikora”. The presentation of the album with a recording took place in many cities of the country and abroad, including in the Polish Library of Paris. The exhibition was accompanied by the presentation of the movie “Scherzo” with Tomek Sikora’s pictures and Chopin’s music performed by the pianist. Also, on the occasion of a Chopin’s Year many times she performed as the soloist in Philharmonic hall of Łódź in a multimedia concert of Chopin music.

The pianist’s repertoire is rich. Besides Chopin’s works willingly performs works of the Spanish composers (Albeniz, Granados) and chamber music. In 2014 on the occasion of the 100-th anniversary of the I World War participated in the Karocell Productions “Music in a War Shadow” project which intention was a concert tour in Sweden with the program on the violoncello and a grand piano written in 1914-1918.
